The word "Vabbing" has been trending both on TikTok and in the beauty world recently, and for good reason. Vabbing is all the rage regarding DIY perfume, and this article breaks down the topic to keep you in the know. So keep reading to learn about the new TikTok trend called vabbing, or what I call Eau de vag.

If you've been on TikTok recently or receive updates about trending beauty practices, you may have heard about something called "vabbing."

In the age of natural deodorant and charcoal toothpaste, the sky's the limit regarding beauty practices. Combine the desire to live a healthy and "clean" or non-toxic life with the desire to find a romantic partner, and you might stumble upon something called vabbing.

Vabbing: What is it?

To say it in the simplest form, you use vaginal secretions as perfume for attraction purposes.

I know.

I KNOW…

But, before you freak out, let me fill you in on the background of vabbing and why you may consider doing it, even if for your science experiment purposes.

So, a while back, I came across a TikTok where someone with the username "oldloserinbrooklyn" gave a total breakdown of vabbing. I've recently looked for that video to link it to this article, but the original has been removed. However, I did save a version of it that was cropped and dueted with some other users, and you can find that here.

Fast forward a few weeks, I saw a different TikTok user who said she'd tried vabbing, and it worked, meaning she reports having gotten some insane results. These results included attracting and receiving attention from potential partners and some even buying her gifts. Note, I've also looked for that video to link but can't find it.

Anyway, as I started seeing more about vabbing, I decided to do a little research of my own, and this is what I found out.

Enter pheromones.

Talk about pheromones has been around for ages, specifically with perfumes and body oils claiming to mimic it and attract lovers.

What are pheromones?

Pheromones are chemicals secreted by the body that send signals to others in the same species. It appears we know more about how pheromones act in other animal species than we know about pheromones in humans.

According to an article on Pubmed, "Pheromones in humans may be present in bodily secretions such as urine, semen or vaginal secretions, breast milk and potentially also saliva and breath, yet most attention thus far has been directed toward axillary sweat."

I found that studies done on pheromones are mostly limited to chemicals excreted through sweat. In one particular study, applying the pheromone androstadienone, located in male sweat, to the upper lip of women resulted in improvements in mood and attention.

Other results of pheromone exposure in women resulted in:

Physical changes linked to arousal

Increased release of the hormone cortisol in saliva (this can result in feeling more awake)

Possible brain processing differences depending on the preferred sexual partner of the study participant

And possible menstrual cycle syncing

Whoa, ya'll.

So when we consider the science surrounding pheromones, the power of vabbing doesn't seem so far-fetched. Now, let's dive into some pros and cons of vabbing.

Pros and Cons of Vabbing

There are many opinions about vabbing online and some clear-cut pros and cons. Read on for a few of them.

Vabbing Pros:

  • Natural - you can't get any more natural than using your body's secretions as a perfume.
  • Convenient - You take your vag with you everywhere you go, so vabbing is always accessible.
  • Free - No visit to Sephora or swipe of your credit card needed to access this fragrance
  • Possible scientific data surrounding pheromones to back up the vabbing claims

Vabbing Con's:

  • Sanitary/Hygenic - some may question whether this is sanitary or hygienic
  • Cleanliness - you probably want to make sure you've washed up before you try it

Still with me? Follow these steps to successfully vab.

How-to Vab

Okay, so if you're ready to give it, here's what you do. And these instructions were taken from that original vabbing video I found on TikTok, with the link to her cropped video found here.

  • Clean up - for hygienic purposes, it's best to start with a clean hand and vag.
  • Insert - stick a finger or two up there and give it a swipe.
  • Dab - dab your Eau de Vag anywhere you would other perfume - wrist, behind the ears, and neck.

That's it!

It seems simple enough but gives one reason to pause because, well, secretions usually kept private are now on major olfactory display.

And it leads me to consider many questions, like if someone was ovulating, would their Eau de vag be ultra potent?

Are men already doing their version of vabbing when they touch their junk, then run their hands through their hair/beard/etc?

Should I be bottling up my juices to sell on the internet or save for when I am trying to meet someone?

There is a lot to consider.

Now, full disclosure - I haven't vabbed before.

Will I?

Time will only tell.

Right now, I'm single and not ready to mingle. But, tbh I'm always up for a good self-experiment. So, I guess we'll see.

In the meantime, I'd love to hear your thoughts on vabbing.

Have you tried the new TikTok trend called vabbing? Would you consider it? Let me know. Til then, happy sniffing ya'll.
